12 Forgotten Signs That They Are Not Your Soulmate

You’ve been searching for that “special someone” and, as luck would have it, you find yourself connected with someone extraordinary. One date leads to another, and before you know it, you’re happily engaged with the perfect person – or are you? Finding your soul mate may not be as easy as you’d like to think…

If you’re in a serious relationship and are considering taking that next big step, allow yourself to take a minute to look back on your relationship. Not everyone you date is going to be “the one”, in fact, you’ll be kissing a lot of toads before you find your prince. The key to avoiding total heartbreak is learning to identify the warning signs early.

12 Often Overlooked Signs That Your Partner Is Not Your Soul Mate:

Your partner puts you on a pedestal.
While a relationship should certainly include love and affection, if they cross the line into adoration territory, then watch out. You should love each other, including your strengths and weaknesses, however, if your partner is blind to your quirks, they will not be able to help you grow in this life.

You notice that you start to forget parts of who you are.
When you find your soulmate, they will love all aspects of what makes you who you are. They will help you grow over time, but will never force change on you. You may have to make sacrifices, but if you notice that being around your partner makes you start to forget who you are, that’s a red flag. Don’t sacrifice yourself for someone else.

They leave you feeling insecure.
It is normal to feel insecure from time to time in our lives, however, it is at these times in our lives that we need to be able to turn to our partner for support and encouragement. If your partner is the one who puts you at risk, then something is definitely wrong.

You don’t share the same morals, values and life goals.
When you enter into a long-term relationship, you are looking for someone to build your “dream life” with. This should be someone who has similar values, someone who shares a similar vision of where you want to go. If their goals don’t match yours, then they may not be “the one.”

Your partner is trying to control you.
When you enter a relationship with “the one,” you are looking for a partner, someone you can face life with as equals. If your partner makes you feel “less than,” or like they have some sort of right to control you, then it’s time to break free for your own good.

They don’t see your real value.
You are a great person, with a lot to contribute. Not only should you see your incredible value in this life, but your partner should too. A soul mate will understand the value of their partner, sincerely grateful for the opportunity to spend their life together.

Your partner brings you more pain than happiness.
Of course, relationships are going to take work and sacrifice, and there will be difficult moments along the way, no one denies this fact. However, if you look back on your relationship and see that your partner makes you frown more often than he or she makes you smile, take note.

You find yourself stalling, avoiding the next step.
If you’re building a life with someone, you should want to take the next step and move your relationship forward. If you notice that you are hesitating to move forward, there is a reason. You may not be able to put your finger on it, but there is a reason you don’t want to take that step. Take this as a sign.

Your partner gives you reason to believe he or she can’t be trusted.
For a relationship to work, you need to be able to trust your partner. If they have given you a reason to question that level of trust, big or small, it will prevent you from really connecting with each other. Trust your instincts and don’t overlook any signs of deception.

They speed up your relationship faster than you want it to.
A real relationship should happen naturally, following a comfortable time frame that works for both people involved. If you find that your partner is rushing your relationship, ignoring your comfort level, be warned – a relationship that builds too quickly often stalls hard.

You don’t feel passionate when you’re together.
This may sound cheesy, but when you find your soul mate, they should make you feel like there are butterflies in your stomach. If your heart isn’t beating when you think about them, then your body is sending you a very important message. Listen to it.

They are closed to you.
A strong, healthy relationship relies on open communication on all levels. If you notice that your partner is holding back from you, avoiding opening their heart, mind and soul to you as a partner, then they are denying you this important foundation. This will prevent you from developing the necessary connection.
